I'm Going On a Free Tour

I'm going on a free three-day tour around some of Korea's cultural sites. It's a military appreciation thing put on by the Seoul Chamber of Commerce. They're making us stay at the Seoul Hilton. And they're paying for all the meals. Darn...

I'll post pics when I'm back.

Autumn in Itaewon

Not only was I blessed to see the fall colors in Colorado, I also get to experience them in Seoul!

Grocery Shopping, Korean Style

When they advertise "Fresh Seafood" in Korea, they mean it! The small clams in the top picture are still moving. So is the octopus in the next one. How they keep the critters on the shelf I'll never know.

The bottom pic is live squid swimming with large scallops. You pick 'em, you eat 'em.

Scenes from Itaewon

In this alley near my apartment, you'll find a Chinese joint "Ho Lee Chow" (say it outloud) and a place pushing raw oysters...

Halloween 2008

Marli's a Geisha Chick, Nate's a Vamp, Rowan's a Butterfly, and Caite's a ...um... I forget. I think it's a Halloween Fairy, but I can't remember.

Beau

Beau went missing last winter - January, I think. We hoped he wandered off in search of a quieter house with better food. Unfortunately, our neighbors found his body under the blue spruce in their yard. While I can't vouch for the food in cat Heaven, I hope it's at least a little quieter.

The Man

I found this while going through old pics... He's trading stocks on the Hong Kong exchange so he can support his parents in their old age. That, or he's drooling on my cell phone.

Behold the Power of Cheese

I won the security system over with an offering of American cheese slices. Now, instead of barking its fool head off, the thing looks at me with pathetic eyes expecting some yummy cheddar goodness. Looks like I'll be sharing my grilled-cheese sandwiches for the next year....

MySpace, kicking and screaming.

So, I attempted to keep up with all my co-workers and friends in Colorado Springs, but everyone appears to be on MySpace. Therefore, I created an account, too. Um, there's nothing on it, but at least I'll be able to keep in touch...

Shoulda known better...

I'm tired. Very tired. I'm sitting in an indoor courtyard at the Dragon Hill Lodge on Yongsan Army Garrison in Seoul. Here's how the past 27 hours have gone:
- I get to the Delta ticket counter in Colorado Springs only to find out the Air Force never actually bought my plane tickets. 30 minutes on hold to an "emergency" contact number and I have tickets.
- 24 hours later and I'm at the baggage claim at Incheon Int'l Airport. I'm there... my luggage isn't.
- A 1-hour bus ride from hell gets me to my hotel only to find out I have to wait 3 more hours for a room.
Hey, only 364 more days of fun!

Ouch!

Yeah..... Um, see.... what had happened was like this: I was driving home and a young lady (17) who just got her liscence (a week ago) ran a stop sign (in the background) and t-boned my car (a block from the house). Everyone was o.k... except our cars, of course. Totalled. Good thing I'm going to Korea and won't be driving for the next year.
